Teachers can really affect the Environment

I believe the physical, emotional and intellectual environments are so related and affect each other. They definitely affect   the students' learning.

The physical environment can positively impacted by providing: light,air, ventilation,  decoration, a clean classroom, visual aids and a nice atmosphere in general terms. This is so hard in Egypt. Still, it can be done via minimal changes. Small changes really make a difference. One day you can bring sweets. Sweets bring about an atmosphere of intimacy and security.

The Emotional environment can be positively impacted by providing: encouragement, nice words to the students, greetting them and saying good-bye every class, highlighting their good work, motivating them towards learning, proposing fun and meaningful activities.

The Intellectual envoronment can be positively impacted by providing: interesting and somehow challenging activities, motivating students towards research, building knowledge together inside and outside the classroom (via projects, answering students in office hours, providing students with meaningful experiences where they can learn by demonstration, creation, evaluation, comprehension and analyzing different situations about real life.

I believe the last part can be done via giving students comprehension passages and asking them open-ended questions related to the comprehension topic but really depends on their opinion. This will let them get into the habit of thinking and presenting their opinion. It is really a good practice that I use that I am sure it really helps students to begin to think and express their thoughts.
