Reflective Learning

What is Reflective Learning?

Reflective learners learn most thoroughly reflecting or thinking about what they learn and efficiently when they gain knowledge through their own actions, or with a hands-on approach. They apply the information and instruction received to their individual lives. They prefer to actually experience the subject matter, rather than just gaining knowledge of the material. They retain the information given through repetition when they discuss or explain the material learned to others in addition to their views about the experiences.
They discuss the material, listen to different perspectives and approaches, and gain understanding most thoroughly and efficiently when they are allowed the freedom to take time to reflect on the information and instruction they have been given.

Reflective learners are typically intrapersonal, logical, active learners with a tendency toward a thinker personality type. They try to answer the questions: Who, What, Where, When,Why, and How. They also try to absorb the subject matter, and apply it to their world.
