MOOCs

MOOCs are Massive Online Open Courses mostly offered for free. Many MOOCs are offered from top universities. There are two famous platforms for MOOCs: edx.courses and coursera.

To take a course on a MOOC platform, you must sign up to the platform to have an account. Then choose the course either through searching via keywords or by browsing through courses. Taking MOOCs is a great way to hone your skills. Unfortunately, you have to have a powerful internet connection in order to follow up the course and make the utmost of the experience. You also have to follow the requirements of the courses: submit assignments, take quizzes, participate in the forum, do assignments, do self and peer assessment, and sometimes group work.

I took a MOOC last year. I enrolled in a number of MOOCs but I did not attain except one certificate as I did not reach the certificates' minimal requirements. I think MOOCs are an excellent way to hone our knowledge, skills and abilities. It is also our duties as teachers to give our students an idea about MOOCs in order to help them improve academically and professionally.
